Marwan Kanafani



Marwan Kanafani PLC member for Gaza city, advisor to Arafat. Born 1938, brother of Ghassan Kanafani, and fluent in English and French Grew up as a refugee in Lebanon and Syria, then worked as a football player in Egypt until mid 1960s, where joined PLO and studied at an Egyptian univirsity.

Married Egyptian TV broadcaster Najwa Ibrahim, and lived pre-1994 in the US. PLO’s information officer from 1989 until 1996, went on to lead the Palestinian Team on the Trilateral Anti-Incitement Committee. Says that his aim is to become Palestine’s foreign minister.
