Born as Levi Shkolnik in 1895, Oratovo, Ukraine (under Russian control). Served in the Jewish Legion in WWI, supporting the British forces in Palestine. He moved to Palestine and helped build up the Haganah. Became Prime Minister & Minister of Defence from 1963. Died 26 Feb 1969.
